“Ela, por exemplo“, foi uma série mensal de filmes exibidos nos cinemas Arsenal e Babylon-Mitte em Berlim, entre março de 1995 e abril de 1996. A ideia e realização da série foi de Ute Aurand, e o projeto foi financiado pelo Künstlerinnenprogramm Berlin. Achamos que seria interessante trazer, como acompanhamento de nossa conversa com Ute, a lista de filmes exibidos na série. [“She, for example” was a monthly series of films shown at the Arsenal and Babylon-Mitte cinemas in Berlin between March 1995 and April 1996. The series was conceived and realized by Ute Aurand, and financed by Künstlerinnenprogramm Berlin. We thought it would be interesting to bring here the list of films shown in the series, as a follow-up to our conversation with Ute. “Todos os meses, de março de 1995 a abril de 1996, uma mulher amante do cinema apresentou sua seleção muito pessoal de filmes que foram e são importantes para ela por várias razões, filmes que estão perto de seu coração. Dessa forma, eu queria lançar uma luz sobre a escuridão da história do cinema feminino e acho que conseguimos. Vimos filmes que não conhecíamos, vimos filmes que sempre quisemos ver e vimos filmes novamente. A ocasião oficial para esta série incomum de filmes foi a celebração dos 100 anos do cinema.
Mostramos 40 cineastas mulheres e cerca de 80 filmes em um ano nos cinemas Arsenal e Babylon Mitte em Berlim. E quando leio a lista de todos os nomes, há nomes familiares ao lado de desconhecidos e é isso que eu esperava – a história do cinema é diferente daquilo que lemos sobre ela. Filmes são negligenciados e ficam esquecidos porque certas pessoas sempre prestam atenção apenas a certas pessoas, porque certas pessoas escrevem apenas sobre certas pessoas… Espero que esta coleção de material ofereça um bom trabalho de referência e inspire novos programas de cinema…” – Ute Aurand, 1996
[“Every month from March 1995 to April 1996, a woman film lover presented her very personal selection of films that were and are important to her for various reasons, films that are close to her heart. In this way I wanted to shed light on the darkness of female film history and I think we succeeded. We saw films we didn’t know about, saw films we always wanted to see and we saw films again. The Official occasion for this unusual series of films was the celebration of 100 years of cinema.
We showed 40 women filmmakers and around 80 films in one year at the Arsenal and Babylon Mitte cinemas in Berlin. And when I read the list of all the names, then there are familiar ones next to unknown ones and that’s what I was hoping for – film history is different from what we read about it. Films are overlooked and get forgotten because certain people always pay attention only to certain people, because certain people write only about certain people… I hope the collection of material offers a good reference work and inspires new film programs….” – Ute Aurand, 1996]
